“This legislative session will be a big one for home rule,” said Manny Marono, Chairman of Keep It Local, Florida and President of the Florida League of Cities. “Our latest video is aimed at strengthening our coalition for home rule as we head into legislative session.”

This year’s session promises to put home rule in the limelight, with issues such as the state’s Medicaid Overbilling and Municipal Pension Reform emerging as key tests of lawmakers’ commitment to the principles of local control.

“Floridians overwhelmingly support the idea that government closest to the people tends to govern best,” said Brian Desloge, President of the Florida Association of Counties. “Today’s video speaks to the growing desire among Floridians of every political background to return power to local towns and taxpayers.”

Founded in 2011, Keep It Local, Florida is a home rule watchdog group that includes local elected officials of all political backgrounds from across the Sunshine State. The group was instrumental in last year’s campaign to alert voters to the dangers of Amendment 4.
